Week seven in Major League Soccer was not a particularly high scoring week, lots of one or two goal games. Luckily for me, I got some pretty huge and unexpected points from my defense. This week my fantasy team earned 207 points, my best week so far, and two pretty good weeks in a row. My points total is 809.
So obviously, Kimura's 50 points were huge and completely unexpected. I have been using him more as a place holder, but it is great to get lucky like this. I got shut-outs from all of my defenders and offensive points from two out of three (Bornstein assist). It is awesome to get points from defender especially when your midfield and forward lines don't pan out too well.
Good pick with Donovan as my captain and Guevara continued on his points streak, but everyone else were pretty disappointing. The only game I was really able to watch this weekend was the DC-FCD game, so I can't make too many comments about people's performances, but I was a little surprised not to see RSL get on the scoreboard, especially against Rocky Mountain rivals Colorado.
My no salary limit team actually underperformed my real team with 184 points this week. I hit on Christian Gomez with his assist coming off the bench, but I picked the wrong DC forward. Jaime Moreno was the highest points getter of the week with 58. That being said, Emilio looked really dangerous. He had a header that he should have put away and a one on one with the 'keeper that should have been a goal. I don't know whether to take it as a good sign or bad sign that he is getting these chances but not finishing them.
Zach Thorton has continued to impress after his shaky start. He is one of the overall points leader in fantasy soccer with 160. I'm not sure if it is him or the team in front of him.
My team in your last thread got 96 this week. I kept Namoff and am glad I did. This coming week is going to be a tricky one. Four teams with two games each...potential for both big points and big disappointment.
ReplyDeleteNice job last week.
